rabbit king who does not jump

The team of researchers announced the findings of the largest rabbit species on Earth. Size is six times larger than the rabbit in Europe in general. Weighing up to 12 pounds. Society of Vertebrate Paleontology refer to it as "the king of rabbits of Minorca".

Rabbit named Nuralagus rex lived about three to five million years ago. "N. rex had peculiar features that have never been seen in other rabbits, both living would also become extinct," he stated in the study.

One of the unique giant rabbit this is her spine short and stiff. That is, this rabbit does not jump. In addition, N. rex has a size of eyes and ears are small compared to the size of her body. "I think N. rex rabbit is a pedestrian," said Josep Quintana, a paleontologist who led the study.

Although slightly different, N. rex had a skull and teeth like a rabbit. "That's what makes us believe this rabbit species," said Brian KRAATZ, expert rabbit evolution of Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Californa, USA.

According KRAATZ, the uniqueness of ancient rabbits that occurred because of his lifestyle that is free of stress. N. rex has no predators in Minorca - a condition that makes species evolve so big and not moving. Meanwhile, modern rabbit small, agile, and had a sharp view to avoid predators.
